Emily's Story

Emily grew up in Gurnee, IL surrounded by her large family and many friends. After graduating from high school Emily went on to make Columbia, MO her home studying, among other things, at Mizzou. She met her life long friends and even gained some sisters. After college, Emily made her lifelong dream a reality when she moved to Chicago. During that time, "Emilyish: A twenty-something on the journey to self-healing, care, and love" was born. Her hope was that by sharing her experiences with depression and anxiety, she could help others.

"Emily showed everyone in her life unconditional love. She never made anyone feel guilty for being flawed. She was the type of person who would stick by your side regardless of how difficult you are. Finding someone who looks past your flaws isn't something that happens everyday. Emily was that person to everyone in her life and we are all better people for knowing her"

Emily's Work

Emily was passionate about her work with the Alzheimer's Association. Her empathy and compassion towards other's made her successful in the non profit sector and she was fully committed to the mission of a world without Alzheimer’s in honor of her grandfather (Daniel Salinas, Sr.) With her as our guiding light, we continue to make strides in the battle against Alzheimer's.
